Letter to the editor: A poison pill
The pharmaceutical industry’s decision to market its products directly to the public rather than through professional contacts has produced a flood of unintended consequences.
TV advertising through amplified excited voices coming into homes include absurd claims for pills and liquids.
The message is double-barreled including disclaimers and frightening lists of side effects.
The result is a lack of useful information.
Perhaps the industry will decide to adopt a new policy of restraint in advertising.
