Letter to the Editor: Event meets needs of children

on August 24, 2014 1:54 AM

We would like to thank all of those who made this year’s Back to School Giveaway at Kinport Assembly of God possible.

For the last 14 years we have taken on the challenge of meeting the needs of the students in our region. None of this would be possible without the generous backing of area businesses and foundations.

We would like to thank the Bork Family Fund of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies specifically for its role in this endeavor. The generous contribution to the community has made quite an impact.

We would also like to thank Big League Haircuts of Indiana and specifically Tiffany and Judy, who worked diligently from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to give haircuts to 89 children. Three of those were my own children and, as a parent, I thank you for your care and attention to detail while serving them.

Also, we would like to thank The Indiana Gazette for its continued coverage of this event.

Lastly, we would like to thank all of those in the church and in the community who gave of their time to come and sort through clothes; fill backpacks; organize shoes, socks, underwear and coats; cook lunches; and offer support for the day of the event.

Together, we are impacting the students of our region and offering their families the tools necessary for a successful school year for the children.

May God bless all of those involved and watch over all of our students, teachers, faculty and staff as they return for the 2014-2015 school year.
