Letter to the Editor: Security assessment needed at school
Recently, I assumed guardianship of my grandson after my daughter (my grandson’s mother) passed away. Instead of sending him to live with relatives and attend Chicago public schools, I decided to raise him here and send him to schools in the Indiana Area School District. Being a White Township resident, I felt he would be safer and have better opportunities in our local district.
At the last White Township Planning Commission meeting, a resident asked the commission to have the Pennsylvania State Police perform a security assessment of the new proposed Ben Franklin elementary school.
This is the same school my grandson will attend.
I’m calling upon the White Township supervisors, White Township Planning Commission and Indiana Area School Board to do the right thing and have this assessment done.
This will help to make our students safe and give me peace of mind that I didn’t make the wrong decision in keeping my grandson in the Indiana Area School District.
