VERA BONNET: Democrat hopefuls bring unique skills
I would like to thank The Indiana Gazette for its excellent coverage of the countywide primary candidates. On the Democratic side, two long-serving and qualified incumbents are in the race: Sandy Kirkland, who is running for a fifth time for the office of county treasurer, and Mary Jane Dellafiora, who is running for jury commissioner, also for the fifth time. These candidates are unopposed in the primary.
The Democratic race for tax collector in White Township is between three qualified hopefuls, each running for the first time. The candidates presented their qualifications at a recent meeting of the Federation of Democratic Women. Each brings unique experience to the job.
Barbara Levine has worked for many years in the county Treasurer’s office and is well-versed in property and per capita taxes, as well as issues involving county tax assessments. As an elected official, she pledges to dedicate her time exclusively to providing accurate and timely service to the people of White Township. She stands by the motto, “Do one thing and do it well.”
Jade Reinard has had a varied career as a business owner, a salesperson and a customer service representative, currently at Diamond Drugs. Her successes in the world of business can be attributed to her organizational skills, her competence in using the latest technologies, and her ability to provide sincere and honest service to her customers.
William Winters learned about hard work and resourcefulness growing up in a family business. As a small-business owner himself, he has acquired a broad set of skills, including experience with cost accounting, accounts payable and general ledgers. Working independently from a very young age, he has developed a keen ability to solve problems and to focus on the details that this job requires.
The Federation of Democratic Women does not endorse specific candidates in primary elections. The organization is dedicated to informing voters of their choices and will support the winner of the Democratic primary, whoever that may be.
