KITTANNING (AP) — State police have arrested a man after investigators say a shotgun was fired in the direction of a trooper.

Police in Armstrong County say an officer was sent to a Rayburn Township residence after a call was made to 911 just after 9 p.m. Saturday but the caller hung up. Police said a man standing outside a trailer fired a shot “in the general direction of the trooper” about 50 yards away. He was uninjured. After backup arrived, the suspect was ordered to surrender and did so.

Police said he was intoxicated and had gotten into a fight with his wife, who fled.

Officers said they seized guns, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

Police said the 58-year-old man was taken into custody and faced aggravated assault and reckless endangering charges.
