A man was flown by medical helicopter after crashing his vehicle into a tree on Route 286 about a mile past the state police barracks sometime before 4:15 a.m. today, said Scott Schuller, the Indiana Fire Association’s first assistant chief.

Schuller did not have any information about the man, and state police had not issued a report this morning. But Schuller said emergency workers removed both driver’s side doors to free the man, and that he was conscious and talking. The call came in from a passerby around 4:15 a.m., Schuller said. It was unclear when the accident occurred. Citizens’ Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.

A vehicle driven by Jessica J. Schmidt, 35, of Clarksburg, hit the guard rail on Route 286 near Stuchell Road around 3:28 p.m. Thursday, state police in Indiana reported. Schmidt suffered minor injuries, according to police.

A vehicle driven by Edward A. Mann, 54, of Lewistown, collided with a vehicle driven by Celeste A. Andreassi-Hutchens, 37, of Kittanning, while pulling out of the Sheetz parking lot onto Route 22 around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, state police in Indiana reported. Neither driver was injured, according to police.
