Animals rescued from homeless vet
LEBANON (AP) — More than two dozen animals were rescued from a homeless veteran’s car after she checked herself into a Pennsylvania VA hospital.
Humane Society of Lebanon County spokeswoman Suzanne Biever said Monday that the veteran had been living with the animals in her car since January. Her name was not released.
Biever said the woman alerted Lebanon VA Medical Center staff when she checked in Friday that the animals were in the car.
The 24 cats, all Persians and Siamese, and three dogs, two cocker spaniels and a Chihuahua-mix, were transported to the Humane Society shelter.
Biever said the veteran transferred ownership of her 27 animals to the Humane Society. They will be available for adoption within the next week.
