Child ingested drugs before fall
NEW YORK — A 7-year-old girl who plunged six stories from the window of a Brooklyn apartment building had drugs in her system, including cannabis, methadone and amphetamines, a person with knowledge of the investigation said Saturday.
The person, who requested anonymity because the investigation was continuing, said it remained unclear how the girl ingested the drugs, but that they were identified through medical tests.
The girl, who was not identified by the authorities, suffered injuries to her lungs, brain and pelvis in the fall Wednesday evening. She was moved from Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, where she was first admitted, to Long Island Jewish Medical Center, according to the police, and was in stable but critical condition Saturday.
