DA seeking death for two in Pittsburgh area party bus slaying
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. will seek the death penalty against two men charged in the shooting death of a man pulled off a western Pennsylvania party bus.
Attorneys for Michael Lyons, 22, and James Isham Lawrence, 21, did not immediately return calls on the announcement Thursday by Zappala.
Steven Lee Jr., 21, of McKees Rocks, was shot multiple times after he was pulled from the bus outside a Pittsburgh bar on March 30.
Zappala previously announced he was also pursuing the death penalty against Lawrence in the Feb. 13 slaying of 28-year-old Tiona Jackson, also outside a Pittsburgh bar.
Federal marshals say Lawrence was wearing a bulletproof vest and had a camouflage mask and a pair of black gloves when he was arrested in August.
