DA shuts down Pittsburgh bar
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities have shut down a Pittsburgh bar that had a history of criminal complaints.
Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. says his office met Friday morning with the owners of Levelz Sports Lounge in an attempt to avoid legal action, but the meeting wasn’t productive. A judge then issued an emergency order.
The DA’s office has been meeting with Pittsburgh police and various neighbors and business owners about the troubled bar. Authorities say there were 33 separate police responses to Levelz between January 2011 and July 2013, including a huge brawl last October and a stabbing last week.
A call placed to Levelz seeking comment wasn’t answered.
An Aug. 16 court hearing is scheduled on whether the bar should be closed permanently.
