Driver, passenger exchange shots
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police have been trying to sort out a shootout between a jitney driver and his passenger, which occurred in the presence of the passenger’s 4-year-old son.
Police were still investigating and hadn’t charged anyone Tuesday in the incident that began about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Police say the driver, who is licensed to carry a gun, argued with a passenger in the back seat with the 4-year-old. Another male passenger was in the front seat.
Police said the driver and backseat passenger got out of the car and exchanged gunfire, with bullets hitting the jitney. The driver also wounded the passenger, who police are identifying only as a 22-year-old man.
Investigators aren’t sure why the men were arguing. Police said the passenger was in critical condition at UPMC Mercy hospital.
