Feds arrest Arkansas treasurer
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Treasurer Martha Shoffner was arrested on federal extortion charges over the weekend and is to make an appearance in federal court.
Shoffner was set for a hearing before a U.S. magistrate judge in Little Rock today.
She was criticized in a legislative audit last year for bond sales that blocked the state from earning more than $400,000.
Federal authorities only confirmed Shoffner’s arrest and withheld details on her charges.
