Four departments respond to shed fire
SMITHVILLE — Volunteer firefighters from four departments responded to a shed fire at 2742 Fire Tower Road, Banks Township, at 7:43 p.m. Thursday.
Dave Lucas, chief of the Glen Campbell Volunteer Fire Company, said a push lawn mower, still hot from running, was parked near hay in the shed and apparently ignited the hay.
The shed, approximately 12 feet by 12 feet, was destroyed, but the firefighters from Glen Campbell, Rossiter, Burnside and Big Run kept the flames from spreading to a large garage nearby. No one was hurt, Lucas said.
