Man arrested in shooting over food
ROCHESTER MILLS — Police report that a man has been arrested in a shooting death that authorities said was over a plate of food.
State police in Indiana said a 59-year-old man is facing homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangering charges in the shooting death of 51-year-old David Ackerson.
Police said the two got into a dispute at Ackerson’s house in Grant Township shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday.
Police said Ackerson brought out two plates of food that the suspect’s mother had given him, but the suspect became angry and accused him of “mooching.”
Investigators allege that he left and the victim caught up with him along a nearby gas well road, where the suspect shot him.
Indiana County District Attorney Patrick Dougherty called the killing “senseless.”
