Man charged with selling marijuana
Indiana Borough police have charged a 24-year-old man with selling marijuana out of a friend’s apartment.
According to police, Shawn H. Haines, of Ambler, Montgomery County, is facing a count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said they were led to Haines through a tip that he was selling marijuana and other drugs from an apartment at 349 S. Sixth St. With that information, police went to the residence and seized trash bags that had been placed at the curb. Upon searching the bags, police said they found evidence of drug activity, which led them to obtain a warrant to search the home.
Police executed the warrant on Wednesday and found 2 pounds of suspected marijuana, $2,260 in cash, a glass bong and a grinder, among other things.
Police said that while searching the home, the mail arrived and with it came a package, which police seized. They then obtained a second warrant to search the package and found 10 more pounds of suspected marijuana.
Haines wasn’t at the apartment at the time of the search.
His roommate told police that Haines had been living there since the spring, when his former home along Locust Street was gutted by a fire.
