Man charged with stealing $114,000

GALLITZIN (AP) — The former secretary of township in Cambria County has been charged with stealing more than $114,000 from the municipality, and funneling nearly $3,800 of it to his son.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Leonard Cuomo, 75, of Gallitzin Township, who allegedly stole the money from 2004 through 2011 by writing unauthorized checks to himself.Christopher Cuomo, 41, like his father, faces a preliminary hearing April 25 on the related theft charges that he also faces.

The younger man’s attorney did not immediately return a call for comment Tuesday.
