Marion Center fire displaces 11 people
MARION CENTER — No one was injured, but 11 people were displaced by a fire Monday at 726 Main St. in the borough.
Rich Lydic, chief of the Marion Center Volunteer Fire Department, said a state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze that was discovered about 5:26 a.m. Monday in the two-story frame home.
The building is owned by Sandy Simpson, Lydic said, but he could not provide the names of the 11 people, including adults, teens and children, residing there.
The occupants are being assisted by the Indiana office of the American Red Cross.
Lydic said the home sustained fire damage to the second floor and attic, and smoke and water damage to the ground floor and basement.
Firefighters from Plumville, Clymer, Creekside and Indiana assisted the Marion Center volunteers.
