Jeanne Henry told state police at Indiana a burglar entered her residence at 12161 Route 422 on June 29 and stole prescription pain medications.

Burglars forced their way into property of Paragon Inc. Wednesday night or Thursday morning and stole approximately 100 feet of copper wire, according to state police at Indiana.


Criminal mischief

State police at Indiana are investigating criminal mischief incidents committed between 9 p.m. July 2 and 9 a.m. July 3 at the residences of Elizabeth Lynch, Kenneth Overdorf and Bonnie McGregor along Market and High streets.

Police said someone damaged several solar lights and a glass gazing ball on the victims’ properties, and several items were also moved or placed in neighboring yards.


Public intoxication

Alex Sparks, 24, of Columbus, Ohio, was arrested by Indiana University of Pennsylvania police at 12:14 a.m. Thursday after he was observed stumbling near the Weyandt Hall dock.

Campus police said Sparks was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center for evaluation and then placed in the Indiana County Jail on a temporary detainer.



State police at Indiana charged Vernon Hazlett III, 22, of Penn Run, with harassment.

Police said that between July 5 and Sunday, Hazlett placed at least 27 telephone calls to Cheryl Taylor, 51, of Clymer, after Taylor asked him to stop calling her.

Criminal mischief

Between June 21 and 26, someone damaged a window on a John Deere backhoe at 2504 Hood School Road.

State police at Indiana said the victim of the criminal mischief is Jeff Vehovic. Damage to the backhoe was estimated at $400.



Theresa Firek, of Saltsburg, told state police at the Kiski Valley station that a burglar broke a window to get inside a detached shed on her property along Route 981 between Saturday and Monday.

Police said the burglar then opened the shed door and stole a 2000 Yamaha PW80 child’s dirt bike.

Simple assault

State police at the Kiski Valley station said a group of friends gathered at 126 Clubhouse Drive at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, and while there, James Defeo, 48, of Irwin, was assaulted by a 49-year-old man from Saltsburg who was not identified by police.

Defeo fell and fractured his ankle, according to police.



State police at Indiana said Patrick Spaid, 22, of Robinson, was charged with theft, theft by deception and receiving stolen property after he stole 12 DVDs from the residence of Kimberly Palesch, 88 Twolick Drive.

Police said Spaid sold the stolen DVDs to fye in the Indiana Mall for $18.02.

The theft and unlawful disposition happened June 27 and 28, police said.


Retail theft

Jackie Deannuntis, 23, of Derry Township, is accused of taking a carton of cigarettes, valued at $60.10, from the Fuel Land store along Route 982 at 1 p.m. June 27, according to state police at Greensburg.

Deannuntis was charged with retail theft, police said.


Daniel Hyatt, 22, of Ligonier, was charged with DUI and possession of a controlled substance after a state trooper from the Greensburg station came upon a one-vehicle traffic crash on Industrial Boulevard at Route 217 at 2:18 a.m. on June 13, according to reports.
