State police at Kittanning said three men have been charged with theft and related offenses after they say he bilked their employer out of approximately $200,000.

Police said Darren Peterson, 44, of Marion Center; David Peterson, 42, of Smicksburg; and Craig Bailey, 43, of Volant, conspired to take scrap copper wire and aluminum-clad wire from a job site in Northumberland County between April and December 2012.

Police said the three men were employees of Henkels and McCoy Inc., a company that had a contract with Pennsylvania Power and Light to dismantle an infrastructure power line.

Police said the three men conspired to collect, transport and sell the scrap wire to P.J. Greco & Sons, in East Franklin Township, for approximately $260,000. The three men then sent a check for $57,000 to Henkels and McCoy for the scrap wire and the remaining money was kept for their personal profit, police said.

They were charged with theft by deception, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received and receiving stolen property.


Public drunkenness

Indiana police said Robert Miller, 20, whose address is unknown, and Steve Klingensmith, 19, of White Township, were seen walking in traffic in the 600 block of Church Street and yelling at passing motorists at 8 p.m. Thursday.

The two were arrested. Klingensmith was cited for public drunkenness and underage drinking. Miller was charged with public drunkenness, underage drinking and resisting arrest.

They were both placed in the Indiana County Jail.



Dennis Lewis Jr., of Penn Run, told state police at Indiana that someone broke the window of his vehicle while it was disabled along Route 119 on July 25 and 26.

Police said electronic devices and tools were stolen from the vehicle.
