Witnesses told police that the driver of a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser fled at 12:31 p.m. Saturday after the vehicle hit a metal light pole at 130 Stone Ridge Road. According to the report, the motorist reached the dead end of the road, backed the vehicle into a driveway to turn around, and hit the pole.

A neighbor confronted the driver — described only as a white man wearing glasses, accompanied by a white woman with brown hair — about the damage, police said.

Investigators did not identify the owner of the damaged property.

A car that was parked at 203 Main St., just west of Elm Street, was damaged by a hit-and-run vehicle at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, state police at Indiana reported.

The damage to the passenger side of the vehicle — including scratches to the entire side and a broken side view mirror — went unnoticed by the owner until Sunday, according to police. Troopers did not release the owner’s name. Investigators reported that paint-transfer evidence shows the hit-and-run vehicle was red.

Indiana police stopped a vehicle at 1:02 a.m. July 5 along the 1300 block of Philadelphia Street for multiple vehicle code violations. Police said the driver, Lucas Palmer, 18, of Blairsville, was intoxicated. He was charged with DUI, underage drinking and three summary traffic offenses, according to reports.
