Police: New York man squatted at camp
WEST MAHONING TOWNSHIP — A New York man is wanted on an arrest warrant for reportedly burglarizing and squatting in a northern Indiana County hunting camp.
Troopers at Punxsutawney reported James Hanson, 29, apparently had been living in a camp at 325 Creek Road, owned by Paul Fantaski, of Smicksburg, “for an extended period of time” and stole $220 when he left the camp.
Troopers learned Oct. 26 that the suspect had wrecked his vehicle in Indiana County and that he is believed to have recently broken into other camps and homes in the area.
Police reported Hanson is about 6-feet-4, weighs about 195 pounds, and has brown hair and green eyes.
Hanson was charged Wednesday with three counts each of burglary and criminal trespass, all felonies; and two counts each of theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief, all misdemeanors.
District Judge George Thachik of Clymer District Court issued the warrant for Hanson’s arrest.
