Police release monthly statistics

Blairsville Borough police responded to 118 calls for service in February and filed charges against six individuals, according to the monthly statistical report.

Those calls included two accidents, one of them DUI-related accident; two alarms; three assists to other agencies; five harassment calls; one fight; four thefts; two domestic disturbances; two drug violations; three criminal mischief incidents; three burglaries with a $30 loss to the victims; one assault; two disorderly conduct incidents; two fire assists and 12 medic assists.

They issued 41 citations, of which 35 were traffic and six were criminal; 24 warnings; 11 parking tickets; and arrested two people for DUI and one for public drunkenness.


State police in Kiski Valley responded to 687 incidents during the month of February, and made 32 criminal arrests, according to the monthly statistical report.

There were 51 reported criminal offenses; two were determined unfounded. Troopers cleared 33 offenses.

Troopers also responded to 26 accidents last month, of which five were hit-and-run incidents and three were DUI-related.

There were no fatalities, but 14 people were injured. Six people were arrested for DUI.

They issued 467 traffic citations, 143 warnings and 14 seat-belt citations. They assisted 15 motorists and made 23 commercial motor vehicle inspections.


Sheriff’s deputies spent 235.5 hours providing court security and another 594 hours providing court facility security during the month of February, according to the monthly statistical report.

Deputies also conducted 60 inmate transports in 102 hours.

They performed 124 civil processes, 11 real estate sales and 12 personal property sales; issued 10 protection-from-abuse orders; issued 460 firearm permits and one precious metal license; served nine bench warrants; filed one criminal complaint; issued seven traffic citations and three traffic warnings; and performed two assists to other agencies.


The state police Bureau of Liquor Control out of Punxsutawney made 111 visits to licensed establishments during the month of February and received 32 complaints, according to the monthly statistical report.

They issued 11 administrative citations for liquor law violations and nine warnings; arrested two minors for underage drinking; and made four other criminal arrests.
