SHAMOKIN (AP) — A school bus driver escaped injury when his unoccupied bus slammed into the front porch of a Pennsylvania home, knocked down a tree and struck a pickup truck and a natural gas line.

It happened after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in Shamokin, Northumberland County.

No students were on the bus at the time and no one was injured.

Bus driver Richard Startzel, 74, told The News-Item that he didn’t know what caused the vehicle to crash. He was able to get out of the bus through the back emergency door.

The reason for the crash is still under investigation.
