Student to plead guilty
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Russian-born college student has been scheduled to plead guilty in August to charges that he built bombs without a license in his central Pennsylvania apartment.
Federal prosecutors in Johnstown authorities last week filed a criminal information against Vladislav Miftakhov, 18, after months of negotiations with his federal public defender.
Miftakhov was a Penn State-Altoona student from San Carlos, Calif., and has been incarcerated since local police acting on a landlord’s tip that he was growing marijuana in his off-campus apartment also found bomb-making materials there Jan. 24.
Online court records show he’s agreed to waive indictment and plead guilty Aug. 19.
