Target shooters won't face charges
EAST STROUDSBURG (AP) —No charges will be filed against four men who were target shooting when a bullet struck an elementary school classroom window while students were inside, authorities in northeastern Pennsylvania said.
A ballistics test determined the bullet that hit the second-grade classroom at Resica Elementary School in Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County, on April 11 came from a gun being used by a group of men target shooting half a mile away.
State police said the Monroe District Attorney’s office investigated and determined there was no criminal negligence.
The bullet hit the window but didn’t penetrate the inner pane. No one was hurt.
