Trafficker’s Lamborghini sells for $88,000
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo that originally retailed for $180,000 has sold for $88,000 at a public auction of property seized from a convicted drug trafficker.
The company that conducted Saturday’s auction near Reno declined to release the winning bidder’s name.
The winner told KTVN-TV that he’s a car lover who was excited to buy the Italian luxury sports car. He says he plans to lock the car up and put some work into it. The Lamborghini has only 12,000 miles on it.
Detectives also seized more than $170,000 in cash and a 2006 Mercedes Benz from James Monts in February 2011. He was convicted on charges of selling marijuana in Reno, Las Vegas and San Francisco.
Proceeds from the Lamborghini’s sale will be distributed among law enforcement agencies involved in the case.
