Woman uses hair tool on intruder

UNIONTOWN (AP) — A southwestern Pennsylvania woman has “straightened out” a would-be intruder.

Uniontown police tell KDKA-TV that Kameshia Ford fended off her ex-boyfriend by bopping him on the head with a hair straightener.

That man, David Sims, 45, has been jailed on burglary and other charges.

Police said Sims got into Ford’s home about 3 a.m. Thursday and tried to rob her and her current boyfriend while armed with a kitchen knife.

That’s when Ford said she hit Sims with the hair straightener.

Police Lt. Thomas Kolencik said Ford won’t be charged because she was acting in self-defense.

“My first instinct was to protect my family and loved ones, and I’d do it again if I had to,” Ford said.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Sims, who remained in the Fayette County Prison.
