Indiana Borough police department investigated a death at a private residence along the 1400 block of Philadelphia Street at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Chief Justin Schawl reported.
“The death was not related to a health condition or IUPatty-related weekend event,” the chief said.
Borough officers were assisted at the scene by Citizens’ Ambulance Service, Indiana County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus police and the Indiana County coroner’s office.
At times the street was lined with as many as 10 emergency services vehicles including two ambulances, two marked trucks from the coroner’s office and a matching unmarked truck, and at least three Indiana Borough police vehicles. State police cruisers drove by but didn’t stop at the scene.
No other information is anticipated to be released.
“There was never a risk to public health or safety” during the investigation, Schawl reported. Police remained at the scene until after 11:30 p.m.
