Clymer Borough police discovered three potted marijuana plants growing behind a shed in the yard of Len Lydic’s residence along First Street during an unrelated investigation at 12:51 p.m. Aug. 26, according to a report.

Police charged Lydic, 42, with a felony count of manufacture of a controlled substance and misdemeanor counts of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Clymer District Court.

District Judge Christopher Welch released Lydic on unsecured bond and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Sept. 23.

Borough police confiscated suspected drug paraphernalia from a vehicle during a traffic stop at 12:12 a.m. Tuesday at Franklin Street and Elk Avenue. A 25-year-old passenger faces charges following further investigation, according to a report.

Charges settled

Amanda Ferguson, 35, was acquitted Monday of charges stemming from an altercation at 1 p.m. Aug. 7 on Main Street, and Judy Ferguson, 55, pleaded guilty to a charge arising from the incident, court records show.

State police had charged Amanda Ferguson with simple assault and harassment, and identified Judy Ferguson and an 11-year-old girl as the purported victims. District Judge Welch dismissed the charges following a hearing in Clymer District Court.

Court records show Judy Ferguson pleaded guilty to a summary count of harassment on Aug. 29 and was assessed $448.05 in fines and court costs.

Homer City


Borough police charged Bryan Boyd, 24, of Homer City, with driving under the influence and two summary traffic charges stemming from a June 24 traffic stop in the borough. A hearing is set for Oct. 1 before District Judge Susanne Steffee in Homer City.

Loyalhanna Township, Westmoreland County

Assault charges

A domestic dispute at 2:49 p.m. Sept. 1 at 304 Loyalhanna Dam Road has resulted in charges against two people.

William Clawson, 50, of Clarksburg, and Celeste Cindrick, of Saltsburg, each were charged with simple assault and harassment in complaints filed Sept. 2 by state police at Kiski Valley.

Both were released on unsecured bond to await a preliminary hearing Oct. 7 in Washington Township District Court.

Derry Township, Westmoreland County

Drug charge

State police at Kiski Valley have charged Kathryn Elizabeth Stump, 51, of Lemont Furnace, Fayette County, with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary traffic violation related to a traffic stop Aug. 28.

A preliminary hearing in Bradenville District Court is scheduled for Oct. 16.
