Theft

Tammy Powell, of Clymer, told borough police that someone stole a makeup purse and a cellphone from her unlocked car between 9:50 and 10:20 p.m. Wednesday while she shopped at Sheetz along Franklin Street.

An investigation including a review of security video footage is underway, police said.

Vandalism

Someone broke a garage window at the residence of Antoinette Zack along Oak Street between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Friday, Clymer Borough police reported.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to phone (724) 254-0714.

Break-in

An intruder broke into the residence of Rashel Fairman and Gage Williams along the 700 block of Morris Street, apparently took nothing but let their dog loose to run around outside, according to Clymer Borough police.

The break-in took place between noon and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

BURRELL TOWNSHIP

Drugs

State police found suspected marijuana and paraphernalia in a Black Lick man’s possession during a traffic stop at 5:28 p.m. Friday on Route 119, according to a report.

Charges have not yet been filed.

EAST WHEATFIELD TOWNSHIP

Drugs

Charles Corrie, of Johnstown, was charged Thursday with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in a complaint filed at Blairsville District Court.

State police said Corrie, 31, was found with contraband during a traffic stop at Routes 56 and 711 at 9:28 a.m. June 17.

PUNXSUTAWNEY, JEFFERSON COUNTY

DUI

State police said a 25-year-old Johnsonburg man was suspected of driving under the influence during a traffic stop at 3:09 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Hampton Ave.

Police withheld the driver’s name.

Assault

A Punxsutawney woman, 25, struck a state trooper when she opened the door of a vehicle and struggled with police when officers took her into custody at 2:54 a.m. Saturday on Hampton Avenue near Torrence Street, according to a report.

Police withheld the woman’s name and said she was a passenger in a vehicle that had been stopped for traffic violations.

MONROE TOWNSHIP, CLARION COUNTY

Drug violation

A Blairsville man, 25, was found in possession of narcotics at 3:47 p.m. Thursday in the Walmart store along Perkins Road, state police at Clarion reported.

Charges have not yet been filed.

DERRY TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY

Fugitive captured

Justin Jones, of Derry, fled from state troopers Wednesday at Summit Street and West Fourth Avenue and eluded capture with the aid of Jill Kratzer, of Derry, according to a report.

Troopers charged Kratzer, 37, on Wednesday with a third-degree felony count of hindering apprehension and prosecution. She was sent to Westmoreland County Prison when she was unable to post $15,000 bond.

Police captured Jones, 35, on Thursday and charged him with flight to avoid apprehension, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. He was jailed without bond.

Investigators didn’t detail the circumstances that led to the original pursuit of Jones.

Preliminary hearings for both are scheduled for July 15 before Judge Mark Bilik in Bradenville District Court.

LOYALHANNA TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY

DUI

A 34-year-old Latrobe woman was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:31 a.m. Friday when state police investigated a traffic accident on Route 981 at Rushwood Road.

Police provided no other details of the accident and have not yet filed charges.

Kristy Dice, of Saltsburg, was charged June 29 with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled substance and one summary traffic offense stemming from an investigation by state police at 8:28 p.m. April 30 on Route 286 at Third Street.

Troopers were sent to check the welfare of a motorist who was found unconscious in the driver’s seat of a car in a parking lot, according to a report.

Dice, 40, has been ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Jason Buczak on Aug. 3.
