WHITE TOWNSHIP

DUI

State police at Indiana charged Timothy Michael Blair, 20, of Homer City, with driving under the influence after troopers observed traffic violations along Lilac Street at Dolores Circle on Sunday at 1:43 a.m.

He also faces other counts including seat belt violations. State police said neither he nor a 25-year-old passenger from Homer City were wearing seat belts when they were pulled over.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 29 at 9:45 a.m. before Homer City Magisterial District Judge Susanne V. Steffee.

DERRY TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY

State police in the Kiski Valley said a 59-year-old Derry man faces multiple charges after driving to a preliminary hearing at the courtroom of Bradenville Magisterial District Judge Mark Bilik.

Troopers said he drove there with a suspended and expired driver’s license, and operated his vehicle without an ignition interlock device installed, as required by PennDOT.

The name of the suspect was not released. State police said the additional charges also will be filed with Bilik.

BURRELL TOWNSHIP

Hit-and-run

State police reported that James Emerson, 49, of New Florence, was the operator of a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on Resort Plaza Drive on July 11 at 1:48 p.m.

Police said Emerson struck the rear of a car driven by Lauren Stover, of Blairsville, as she was stopped while waiting in the McDonald’s drive thru lane. After the accident, Emerson fled the scene to avoid apprehension on multiple warrants for his arrest, police said.

Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Bell’s office. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 2.

COWANSHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, ARMSTRONG COUNTY

Identity theft

A 50-year-old Kittanning woman is in the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond after two separate incidents in recent weeks.

State police at Kittanning said Tracy Rearick was arrested following a report July 2 of identity theft. A 69-year-old Numine woman said Rearick had stolen West Penn Power and Peoples Gas services in Cowanshannock Township.

She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday at 1 p.m. before Rural Valley Magisterial District Judge Kevin Lee McCausland on those charges, for which bond was set at $2,500.

McCausland later set bond at $7,500 for a second incident in which Rearick was charged with possession of a controlled substance and of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct, and scattering rubbish.

A hearing on those charges is scheduled Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. before McCausland.

BELL TOWNSHIP, JEFFERSON COUNTY

DUI

State police at Punxsutawney arrested a 36-year-old Knox man and his passenger, a 32-year-old Punxsutawney woman, on drug-related charges after a traffic stop Wednesday at 12:03 a.m. along Route 119.

Troopers said their car was stopped near the intersection with Rikers Road for multiple lane violations. They said there was a strong odor of marijuana from the car and other signs of suspected drug-related impairment.

State police said a search of the vehicle turned up suspected marijuana, benzodiazepine pills and drug paraphernalia. The man faces charges of driving under the influence while the woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

PERRY TOWNSHIP, JEFFERSON COUNTY

Theft

A 75-year-old Punxsutawney woman has been listed as a victim in a fraud involving gift cards on July 17 at 3:37 p.m. State police out of Punxsutawney are currently looking into the incident and the investigation remains open.
