Hit-and-run

Indiana Borough police are investigating a hit-and-run accident after receiving a report from the owner of a black 2019 Dodge Ram that a vehicle struck his truck and left without providing information. The owner of the truck told police the incident took place Aug. 26 between 8 a.m. and noon along South Eighth Street.

Public drunkenness

Borough police cited Caleb Kephart, 22, of Portage, Cambria County, for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct as a result of a fight Sunday at 2:12 a.m. at South Sixth and Philadelphia streets. Officers said Kephart was observed fighting, but fled the scene. He was apprehended a few blocks away and later released to a sober adult, police said.

Theft

State police at Indiana reported that Eric Blattenbeger, 31, of Black Lick, took a CenterPoint Patriot 415 crossbow from the Walmart along Resort Drive without paying the full retail value of $347 on Sept. 29 at 10:10 a.m.

WEST WHEATFIELD TOWNSHIP

DUI

William Homer McCurdy III, 27, of Latrobe, Westmoreland County, was arraigned Saturday on charges of DUI and other offenses before Indiana Magisterial District Judge Guy B. Haberl.

McCurdy was lodged in the Indiana County Jail after failing to post $1,000 bail. He has a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 16.

State police at Indiana reported that McCurdy was involved in a one-vehicle crash Saturday at 1 a.m. along Climax Road in which his 2015 Ford Escape ran into a ditch.

Animal cruelty

State police at Punxsutawney investigated an incident of animal cruelty at a location in the 1800 block of McCormick Road.

On Sunday between midnight and 2 p.m., someone gained access to the victim’s barn without force, a 41-year-old Smicksburg man reported. The suspect abused three pigs and two goats, leaving the animals with suspected broken ribs.

DUI

State police at Indiana reported that a 34-year-old Shelocta man was arrested for DUI after a crash investigation involving his 2019 Chevrolet. The incident took place Saturday just after 2 a.m. at Route 85 and Route 210.

CANOE TOWNSHIP

DUI

Three unidentified teens are facing charges after a traffic stop Sept. 20 at 9:20 p.m. at Central and Sunset streets.

State police at Punxsutawney reported that the driver was operating under the influence of alcohol and both passengers were under the influence of alcohol. All three are underage.

Troopers said the suspects are an 18-year-old Punxsutawney male, a 19-year-old Rossiter male and an 18-year-old Sykesville male.

DERRY TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY

Assault

State police at Kiski Valley investigated an assault that took place Saturday at 1 a.m. at a bar in the 100 block of North Bank Street. Troopers said the assault involved Joseph Shandel, 34, and Harry Shaffer, 47, both of Derry. Charges have been filed against Shandel.
