The Indiana Borough Police Department is actively investigating the defacement of borough property with more than a dozen “unauthorized stickers and fliers” affixed in various locations in the downtown business district.

The items attached to poles, cans and benches appeared to be connected to the Patriot Front group.

It includes a “manifesto” that reads in part: “Those of foreign birth may occupy civil status within the lands occupied by the state, and they may even be dutiful citizens, yet they may not be American.

Membership within the American nation is inherited through blood, not ink. Even those born in America may yet be foreign.”

Borough police noted that the Southern Poverty Law Center has identified Patriot Front as a “hate group,” one of dozens recognized in Pennsylvania.

The police department is seeking the assistance of downtown businesses that may have surveillance footage of those who defaced the public property.

Depending on motive, perpetrators could be charged with anything from littering to ethnic intimidation.

The police department said it will not tolerate any incident of hate, will investigate and prosecute all offenders, and remains committed to ensuring the peace, safety and comfort of our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens.
