CREEKSIDE — An investigation has been launched into the death of a newborn boy Wednesday at a residence on Arch Street.
The cause and manner of the child’s death are pending at autopsy scheduled today Thursday morning at ForensicDX in Windber, Somerset County.
Trooper Cliff Greenfield said in a news release that state police were notified of the death of the newborn child at a residence along Arch Street. at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. requested that troopers respond to assist with the investigation.
Police said paramedics were unable to revive the baby.
During the course of the investigation, troopers interviewed the child’s mother and learned that the child was born prematurely at the mother’s Arch Street residence Wednesday night.
Greenfield said troopers seized various items of drug paraphernalia from the residence.
