Indiana Borough police were left with few clues Wednesday as to the identity of a robber who threatened a clerk at the Taco Bell restaurant along Oakland Avenue and fled with an undetermined amount of cash.
Investigators persisted in scouring the Indiana area in their search well into the afternoon.
Police today offered no update on the probe of the holdup.
By Lt. Joe Clement’s account on Wednesday afternoon, the suspect was well disguised.
Police are leaning toward the robber being a man, but aren’t sure of his race.
Clement said the holdup was reported at 8:40 a.m.
“This person went in, we believe to be male, displayed a gun and demanded money,” Clement said.
The suspect wore dark clothes, “a mask of some sort” and gloves.
“From the camera view, it appeared that the gun was a pistol but we really could not tell if it was real,” Clement said. The surveillance images, he said, yielded no more details than workers gave the police.
No one was reported to have been harmed.
Clement said little more on the scant leads police had.
“We have a couple of things we’ll be following up on, and see what turns up,” he said.
