Shannon Brink, 42, of Westover, is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop at approximately 4:18 p.m. Oct. 18 along Route 286.

State police at Indiana said Brink was found to be operating a stolen vehicle while under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana.

During a consent search of the vehicle, Trooper Dylan J. Toy said meth, a prohibitive offensive weapon and drug paraphernalia were seized.

Brink was taken into custody and transported to Indiana Regional Medical Center for a blood draw.

A criminal compliant sent to Judge Christopher Welch’s office charges Brink with DUI, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a controlled substance, as well as numerous summary vehicle code violations, Toy said.


Simple assault

State police said a Torrance State Hospital patient attempted to escape from the custody of the staff on Route 982 during an incident at 10:46 a.m. Oct. 24.

The male victim, from Bolivar, requested assistance from state police at Greensburg in controlling the suspect, who was not named.

Officials said the suspect struck the victim in the face on two different occasions as he was being escorted to a hospital vehicle.

Trooper Tavin Davis said he used a small amount of pepper spray to gain compliance from the subject. After the spray dripped from the suspect’s forehead into his eyes, Davis said emergency personnel were summoned to decontaminate him.

Police said both the trooper and victim declined prosecution, and no arrest was made.



A 51-year-old Sagamore man is accused of grabbing a 71-year-old woman by both hands and leaving a small bruise on each one during an argument.

State police at Kittanning said the incident occurred Wednesday at about 4 p.m. at a residence along Ninth Street in Sagamore.

The man, who was not identified, was cited with harassment.
