State police reported that a motorist drove away without providing information after a vehicle mowed down the mailbox outside Mary Ghiardi’s residence along Nowrytown Road. The damage was discovered at 7:46 a.m. Oct. 4, according to police.

Identity theft

Someone used personal information for Alexander Bennett, of Lonely Pines Estate Road, to open an account with Verizon Wireless in New York on Sept. 26, state police reported.

Domestic incident

State police probed a domestic fight between a 44-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman at 7:10 p.m. Oct. 4 on Juneau Road, according to a report.

Police withheld the combatants’ names. No charges have yet been filed.


Credit card theft

State police in the Kiski Valley said a Vandergrift woman stole a credit card from a 77-year-old Saltsburg-area woman and used it at multiple locations to make $983.13 in purchases without the victim’s permission. Troopers said Melissa Gourley, 46, also stole approximately 15 T-shirts valued at $300 from a 60-year-old New Alexandria-area man.

The incidents were reported on Aug. 12. Gourley was charged Oct. 1 with five felony counts of illegal use of an access device, as well as two counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, all misdemeanors.

She was arraigned before Washington Township (Westmoreland County) Magisterial District Judge Jason Buczak, who set bond at $10,000, unsecured, and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Nov. 18 at 9:45 a.m.



State police at Punxsutawney said charges are pending against a 27-year-old DuBois man who was stopped for a summary traffic violation on Wednesday at 4:59 p.m. along East Main Street at Railroad Street.

Troopers said the man was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.

They said a search of his vehicle turned up positive findings for suspected THC wax and related paraphernalia.
