DERRY — State police in the Kiski Valley have arrested three people, one a juvenile, in the shooting of a 20-year-old man Sunday afternoon outside a home along McFarland Road in Derry Borough, Westmoreland County.

Troopers said they were called shortly before 4 p.m. regarding the shooting of the individual, whom witnesses said was selling THC wax, a highly-concentrated form of tetrahydrocannabinol, the main ingredient in cannabis.

The 20-year-old, who was not identified, was taken by Stat Medevac to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with a gunshot wound to his groin.

No information was available on his condition this morning.

Witnesses told state police that an individual known as Lil-Drizzy, or Brandon Eugene Thomas, 17, of Scottdale, attempted to purchase THC wax using fake money purchased from the wish.com website.

They told investigators that an argument followed involving the victim, Thomas and Michael Edward Sawyer, 28, of Forbes Road, during which Sawyer pulled out a firearm and shot the 20-year-old man.

The two suspects fled in a car whose driver later was identified as

Helen Lorraine Painter, 22, of Greensburg.

Troopers said Painter was found and interviewed, during which they learned the names of the others allegedly involved.

Thomas is still at large, while Sawyer and Painter were arraigned early today before Bradenville Magisterial District Judge Mark J. Bilik, who placed both adult suspects into Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of bond, pending hearings on April 15.

Painter was jailed in lieu of 10 percent of $5,000, while Sawyer is being held in lieu of $250,000 bond.
