After more than 40 years running his pizza shop on Oakland Avenue across from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, John Tsiris has sold The Pizza House to Tom Zaucha, of White Township.

Tsiris will continue to work at the restaurant as a part-time cook and consultant, Zaucha said.

“It was a nice opportunity with a perfect location,” Zaucha said of the establishment. He declined to give a purchase price.

Zaucha said that the current menu items will remain but that additions will expand the offerings to include soups, pizza, hot dogs and daily specials.

He said he will add an outdoor seating area.

Tsiris opened the restaurant in the early 1970s, after working as a dishwasher and eventually chef at The Capitol Restaurant.
