Breeanna Mintmier, of Indiana, a chemistry major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, presented a research poster in February at the 13th annual Student Poster Session at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

The annual event provides a forum for high school, undergraduate and graduate students to present their research to peers and colleagues in industry and academia. Approximately 90 students from the region presented their work.

Mintmier is the daughter of Nita and William Mintmier Jr. and a 2009 graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School. A dean’s list student in the Robert E. Cook Honors College, she won the Best Poster award at the IUP Women in Mathematics, Science and Technology Forum in 2011. Mintmier’s poster was titled “Cellulose Particle Size and Crystallinity Influence Cellulase Kinetics.”

She is working on a project on biomass utilization with John Ford and Jaeju Ko of the IUP chemistry department.
