Presented by The Indiana Gazette, with Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Academy of Culinary Arts and Department of Food and Nutrition, the annual show again benefited the Indiana County Community Action Program.
“This is the fifth year the show has benefited the ICCAP food bank,” said Debbie Palmer, director of marketing at the Gazette. “It was a great night.”
More than $9,000 was raised for ICCAP.
Doors opened at 5 p.m. and the show began at 6:30 with Chef Albert Wutsch of IUP’s Culinary Academy leading 10 chefs through a demonstration of making pastas and sauces from scratch, with the theme, “Pasta La Vista, Baby!”
The second half of the show featured Diane Wagoner, of the IUP Department of Nutrition, and IUP interns, who showed the audience how to take the dishes the chefs prepared and make a week’s worth of meals.
Visitors to the show were treated to samples from several local food vendors and given the opportunity to win a variety of door prizes.
Sponsors of this year’s show were Lentz Kitchen and Bath, Environmental Services Laboratories Inc. and Indiana Regional Medical Center.
