Horse Club members compete in 4-H Horse Bowl

Forty-three Indiana County 4-H Horse Club members representing three clubs recently competed in the annual 4-H Horse Bowl contest. Horse Bowl is a competitive double-elimination contest where team members answer questions on all aspects of the horse industry.

In the junior contest, the Shawnee Riders 4-H Club team placed first with members Leslie Blystone, Garrison Kanouff and Autumn Kanouff. Second place also went to a Shawnee Riders team composed of Braedon Sheesley, Taylor Sheesley, Alexis Zaragoza and Alexis Latson. The Trailblazers Club finished third with Machaela Rankin, Paige Almes, Allyson Ghiardi and Grace Rougeaux. Coaches for the junior teams were Jennifer Fedder, Marjie Bezilla and Julie Moretti for Shawnee Riders and Donna Meyer, Beth Almes and Stacy Ghiardi for Trailblazers.

In the senior contest, Shawnee Riders was the first-place team with members Angela Moretti, Madison Woodward and Lauren Overdorff. Second place went to Trailblazers with Taylor Lecce, Rachel Sproat, Paige Henry and Tessa Rankin. Sleepy Hollow took third place with Alex Ruffner, Emily Vojtek and Libby Anderson. Coaches for Sleepy Hollow were Angie Adams and Sue Bracken.

Awards for the contest were provided by the Indiana Kiwanis Club. Ethel Coleman served as chairwoman of the event, and Marjie Bezilla served as a room chair. Other participants in the junior division from Shawnee Riders were Heather Hershberger, Samantha Zaragoza, Montanna McCloskey, Jenna Strittmatter, Victoria Lloyd and Shawn Blystone. Also participating from Trailblazers were Carolyn Albert, Cameron Albert, Elizabeth Bruner, Abigail Bruner, Brianna Dillon, Kelsey Henry, Erin Pierce, Izabella White and Aleesha Spaid. Sleepy Hollow participants were Haley Brooks, Andrew Adams, Emmi Bracken, Jackie Little, Khylee Maglione, Ashton Anderson and Ethan Bracken.
