The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Bernard, recently held an awards ceremony to honor the local winners of their National Education Contest.
Students from St. Bernard’s Regional Catholic School competed in five categories using the themes of “Jesus is Reflected in Me” or “My Life is a Reflection of Good.”
Students were encouraged to use their skill, talent and imagination while conforming to the rules of the competition.
The Division I (fourth and fifth grade) poetry winner was Alyson Krecota. The essay winner was Emily Marshall. In the art competition, Aidan Cattau was the winner.
Division II (sixth, seventh and eighth grade) honorees in poetry were Lauren Krecota, first; Maggie Arone, second; and Abby Novak, third. The art winner was Edward Clark.
In conjunction with the student competition, there was also a division for adult members of CDA. Sabina Fiala took top honors for her poetry entry.
All winning entries have been forwarded to the state competition.
