The producer of the award-winning film “YERT (Your Environmental Road Trip)” will join the Center for Community Growth in a panel discussion and screening of it Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Downtown Indiana Theater.

“Called to action by a planet in peril, three friends hit the road in the film ‘YERT’ — traveling America with hope, humor … and all of their garbage for the year — to explore the good, the bad and the weird across every state in search of the innovators and citizens who are tackling humanity’s greatest environmental crises.

“As the YERT team layers outlandish eco-challenges onto their yearlong quest, an unexpected turn of events throws the project for a loop in this award-winning docu-comedy,” according to promotional material.

The film’s producer, Mark Dixon, will participate in a panel discussion about local environmental initiatives and on ideas on how to “get green” in Indiana County.

Also joining the panel discussion are representatives from the Indiana County Solid Waste Authority, IUP’s Energy Team and IUP ECO club.

Attendees are also invited to enjoy the music of a bike-powered band and musician Scott Ellis during a social hour starting at 6:30 p.m.

Tables from participating organizations will be set up and locally made food, baked goods and other refreshments will be available.
