MARION CENTER — This year, the Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America held their annual State Leadership Conference in Hershey from April 15-17.
During the conference, there were educational workshops, an opening ceremony, an awards ceremony, open competitions, campaigning and voting for next year’s state officer team, and various team and individual competitions. Of the 28 members of Marion Center’s FBLA chapter, 14had the opportunity to compete at the state level.
The following members competed at the event: Kyle Anderson (Business Math); Noah Hoover (Business Math); Lauren Woodburn (Business Communications); the team of Chasity Hankinson and Matthew Janosko (Business Ethics); Tyler Kirk (Computer Problem Solving); Austin DeFelice (Computer Problem Solving); the team of Danniele Fulmer, Fallon Schoch and Jakeb Rising (Entrepreneurship); Alicia Turner (Hospitality Management); Zack Kriley (Introduction to Business); Matthew O’Hara (Personal Finance); and Lojjik Braughler (Technology Concepts).
During the awards ceremony, the top 10 place winners in each competition were called to the stage. Schoch, Fulmer and Rising competed in Entrepreneurship in two parts, a written exam and a problem-solving performance, and earned fourth-place in the state overall.
Braughler placed second in Technology Concepts and will be moving on to the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif., this June.
Overall, Marion Center’s FBLA chapter is very proud of the members’ performances at the state competition.
