Bobbie Farren has announced she is seeking the Republican nomination for tax collector of Rayne Township in the Marion Center Area School District.

“I feel the position of tax collector is a great way to get involved with local government,” Farren said in a press release. “The job is vital to the township as well as our school district and the county.

“With most of my work experience relating to sales and small business, I feel the job of tax collector is something I am qualified for, and would openly accept the challenge of learning all aspects of the job,” she said.

Farren is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Marion, where she has been involved in various capacities of the church’s ongoing missions and spiritual outreach.

She is a lifelong county resident, having resided in Rayne Township for the past 42 years with her husband, Calvin. They have three children, Shannon, Kevin and Nicole (deceased), and five grandchildren.

“I have always enjoyed working with people and consider this an opportunity to be actively involved within our local community,” she said. “While I believe communication and accessibility are very important, my pledge to the taxpayers will be to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the tax collector position with integrity and professionalism.”

Farren said the tax office will be maintained with easy access in location and with handicap accommodations.
