Ruffner seeking tax collector seat

Zoleanne Ruffner has announced she is seeking the Republican nomination for tax collector of Rayne Township. The Rayne Township supervisors appointed Ruffner to the position in January 2013. She will serve out the year as tax collector, which has included the recent spring tax season.

“Since my appointment, I feel that the office of tax collector has operated with efficiency and professionalism,” Ruff-ner said in a press release. “I would be honored to continue in this position for the next four years.”

Ruffner was born and raised in Indiana County, graduating from Marion Center Area High School. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in social studies education and geography. She is an elder at the Presbyterian Church of Atwood, where she is a lifelong member. She is also a substitute teacher in the Marion Center Area School District.

She lives with her husband Nick and children Christian and Claire.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity that this job has provided in serving my community,” Ruffner said. “I’ve enjoyed interacting with the taxpayers of Rayne Township and look forward to serving them in the future.”
