TIM McKELVY: Hot political issues pale in light of final judgment

Everett Dembosky’s letter last Friday (“We need sanity on Second Amendment”) reminded me of a conversation in the coffee shop earlier that morning between a conservative and several liberals. The stress level was rising slightly along with the volume. The participants held to their convictions and no minds were changed.

Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment.” That day is racing toward us. When that day comes, we will all stand before a holy God. He’s not going to ask us if we were Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative. Were we pro-gun or anti-gun? Were we pro-life or pro-abortion?

He’s going to say, “Did you believe in my son Jesus?” That’s the most important question we’ll ever answer.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
