Jess Stever set a meet record in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 3 inches, and the Indiana Junior High girls’ team took home first place Saturday at the Westmoreland Area Athletic Directors Association track and field meet.
Stever also set the school record in the 200, with a time of 26.6 seconds.
Abby Myers broke the school record in the 800, at 2:30.4, and the 1,600-meter relay team (Becca Olechovski, Megan Kester, Myers and Stever) set a school record with a winning time of 4:21.1.
Other medal winners for the girls were: Myers, second place, triple jump; Stever, second place, 400; Kalyn Menifee, fifth place, shot put; Olechovski, sixth place, triple jump; and the 3,200-meter relay team (Clara Sherwood, Olechovski, Teresa Roth and Myers), sixth place.
Three boys brought home medals for Indiana: Bobby Bell, second place in the shot put and fifth place in the discus; Reed Harkleroad, third place, pole vault; and Dakota Gunsallus, sixth place, hurdles.
Races rained out at MCS
MARION CENTER — Saturday night’s races at Marion Center Speedway were cancelled due to inclement weather. Races are scheduled to resume next Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Sanso’s wins softball game
Sanso’s defeated New Bethlehem, 13-3, in 14-and-under girls’ fastpitch softball game Thursday.
Abby Yancy hit a home run and single for Sanso’s. Abby Ginter banged out two hits, and Morgan Buggey stroked a double.
Winning pitcher Emily Worcester struck out eight.
