Luke William Hamilton, son of William and Tammy Hamilton, of Clymer, recently earned the Boy Scouts’ highest rank, Eagle Scout.
Luke is a member of Boy Scout Troop 10 in Penn Run under the leadership of Scoutmaster Thomas Lester.
He began his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub with Penn Run Pack 10 and continued through Cub Scouting to achieve the highest award, the Arrow of Light. After bridging over to Troop 10, Luke became a very active member. He has held numerous leadership positions including senior patrol leader, patrol leader, chaplain’s aid, den chief, troop guide and bugler.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Luke built a rack to house the sailboats at Yellow Creek State Park. While working at the Yellow Creek boat rental, he realized the need to build this structure since there wasn’t a place to house or store the sailboats. They were also built to support the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Sailing Club.
Luke is a freshman at IUP, studying safety science. He is an active member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, Nicktown. Luke’s Court of Honor ceremony was held March 17.
